2018 - LIFE AND LOVE ON DISPLAY

-

Look closely, feel deeply.

Don’t direct, just witness.

Smash ego, expand heart.

Every wedding we stepped into this past year, we kept these words in our heart and on our mind.

-

Wedding days aren't about wedding photos. They’re not about us or our “art.” They’re not about likes, pins, or features. They’re about life and love colliding together in an infinite starburst of possibilities. We spent 2018 (our 16th year photographing weddings full time) leaving each experience with full hearts, a deeper belief in human goodness, and downright awe at how lucky we are to continually be invited into such intimate spaces. Here’s an (admittedly gigantic) collection of some of our favorite unscripted moments we witnessed from weddings this past year. Images found over images created. No posing, no portraits, no groups, no details, just a transparent record of what we were privileged to observe.

Less us, more you.

SHANNON AND ROBERT IN THEIR ANAHEIM HOME

Fresh (well, honestly, no so fresh feeling) off a flight from a frozen Kansas City to an overwhelmingly warm and vibrant Lots Angeles, I stumbled into Shannon and Robert's open front door and open arms. Hours passes like minutes as we talked about damn near every subject possible while sipping whiskey and wine, munching on cheez-its, laughing aplenty, emptying and filling our hearts and glasses over and over, and oh yes in the midst of all that we made some images to remember this sacred time together. Can't even begin to express the excitement over joining them and their closest family and friends to celebrate their marriage in Italy later this year.

Photographed on location in Anaheim, CA with Fuji Xpro2s with a 23mm and 35mm.

THE BERTOCCHINI FAMILY - A PORTRAIT MADE ON FILM

Somewhat ironically, on our most recent set of travels to California I had the honor of photographing these four lovely humans who happened to live right down the street from where we used to live in California.
