My absolute favorite part of winter here in the mountains is having to heat our home via our wood stove. The ritual of waking up each morning and building a fire and continuously tending to it throughout the day is something I deeply miss once the temperatures begin to rise again. Not to mention the new pleasure I've found in felling trees in the forest to gather the wood for heating our home...but more on that in another post. In the early chill of the morning the loinfruits spend their waking hours huddled close the fire, usually playing cards.
