When we first received the photos from our wedding, the shots that got the most attention were funnier, flashier, more attention-getting than this one. But in the three years since, this photo - which is a classic wedding portrait, in a way, but with a contemporary journalistic twist that makes the viewer feel like they are witnessing a very private moment -- has proven the one that we keep in the frame and show to our friends (and now, to our 1 year old!).
WHEN THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN, I REMEMBER FEELING THAT JUST FOR THAT BRIEF MOMENT IN TIME, WE WERE TOGETHER AT THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE, A TEAM OF TWO WITH EVERYTHING REVOLVING JUST AROUND US.
Now our universe has expanded so much! We have a goldendoodle and a daughter and are buying a house...and our respective in-laws really feel like family.
BUT WHEN I LOOK AT THE PICTURE, IT BRINGS ME BACK TO THAT FEELING OF BEING UNITED AGAINST THE WORLD - JUST US TWO.
I'm so happy to have this reminder of the strong foundation upon which we are building the rest of our lives together.
